Evelyn May, age 92 of Tacoma, Wash., and formerly of Howard Lake, lost her battle with congestive heart failure Friday, Dec. 30, 2005.
Evelyn was born in Howard Lake Nov. 14, 1913.
She and her husband, Orv, moved to the Tacoma, Wash. area in 1948.
Evelyn retired in 1975 from McNeil Island after many years of service with the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
She was a member of the Evergreen Chapter of the Federal Prison Retiree’s Assoc., the National Assoc. of Retired Federal Employees, and Christ Lutheran Church.
Evelyn is survived by her daughter, LuAnn (George) Nordi of Tacoma, Wash.; her son, Orson (Clare) May of Portland, Wash.; sister Alene Cole of California; five grandchildren: Scott (Mary) Nordi and Lynne Nordi, all of Tacoma, Wash.; Brent (Elizabeth) Nordi of Wenatchee, Wash.; and Stephanie and Wendy May of Portland, Wash.; four great-grandchildren, Nicole, AJ, Nick, and Paige Nordi; and two generations of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Orville May; brother Walter Prigge, and sister Loretta Anderson of Minnesota.
Visitation was Thursday, Jan. 5 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at New Tacoma Funeral Home; followed by a graveside service at New Tacoma Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.
A memorial service took place at Christ Lutheran Church in Lakewood, Wash. Thursday, Jan. 5 at 2:30 p.m.
