Luke M. Otto, 89

Luke M. Otto, 89, of rural Lester Prairie, passed away at home on June 23, 2005.

Mass of Christian Burial is Monday, June 27, 10:30 a.m., Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Winsted. Internment immediately following in Holy Trinity Cemetery

Visitation is Sunday, June 26, 4-8 p.m. and Monday 9-10 a.m. at Chilson Funeral Home, Winsted.

He lived his entire life on the family farm except for the 3 1/2 years that he proudly served his country in the 1st Division of the U.S. Marine Corps in the South Pacific during World War II.

Luke was a lifelong member of Holy Trinity Parish where he co-authored the parish history book for the anniversary of the parish.

He was a member of Martin Krueger Legion Post 407 for more than 60 years where he faithfully served as the Americanism chairman and master of ceremonies at the Memorial Day celebration for many years.

Luke’s passion in life was reading, learning, and sharing that knowledge with his family and friends. He will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his wife Eleanor, children Barbara, Christopher (Jane), Charles (Kari), Daniel (Fran), Michael, Catherine (Kurt), Peter (YanWen), Elizabeth (John), Eric, Margaret (Dave), John (Patricia); 24 grandchildren; siblings Florian (Fran), Austin (Mariann), Helen (Tom), Nona; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by parents Clemens and Martha; siblings Betty Laurance, Lucy Kritzeck, the Rev. Mark Otto, Hedwig Archibald, and daughter-in-law Constance Otto.
