Glennard Otto Pawelk

Glennard Otto Pawelk, age 84 of Hutchinson, and formerly of rural Waverly, died Tuesday, July 19, 2005 at St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted.

He was born July 12, 1921 in Woodland Township, Wright County, the son of Fred and Elsie Mielke Pawelk.

Glennard was baptized July 31, 1921 at St. Mark Lutheran Church in New Germany by the Rev. Theodore Rolf. He was also instructed in the Lutheran catechism and confirmed in the Christian faith April 5, 1936 at St. Mark Lutheran Church by Rev. Rolf.

Glennard was joined in holy marriage to Adeline E. Taylor June 19, 1947 at St. Mark Lutheran Church in New Germany by the Rev. John Meyer. God blessed their marriage with four children.

Glennard worked on the Rudy Eklund farm in Woodland Township, Wright County for several years. Glennard and Adeline eventually purchased the Eklund farm and engaged in farming there for many years.

He also was formerly employed by Schwartz Manufacturing in Lester Prairie, Herbert Kubasch of Winsted, Peterson Company in Spring Park, J.R. Clark in Spring Park, and the Van Dale Company in Long Lake.

He later restored older farm machinery and often repaired gear boxes.

Glennard and Adeline were also very involved with craft making.

He was a former 4-H leader of the Woodland Woodettes.

Glennard was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson, and a past faithful member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winsted for over 50 years.

He is survived by his wife, Adeline E. Pawelk; children: Lenny (Debbie) Pawelk of Loretto, Jeanette (Ray) Pavlish, Dale Pawelk, all of Hutchinson, and Sandy (Louie) Juncewski of Winsted; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Glennard is further survived by brothers and a sister, Eldon (Barb) Pawelk of Montrose, Eldor (Joan) Pawelk of Maple Lake, Orville (Bonnie) Pawelk of New Germany, Kenneth (Germaine) Pawelk of Montrose, and Priscilla “Tudy” (Wayne) Seivert of Eau Claire, Wis.; sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Bernice Pawelk of Hutchinson, Elaine Pawelk of Waverly, Earl (Gladys) Taylor of Lyndale, and Doris Splettstoeszer of Watertown; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Elsie Pawelk; and by two brothers, Willard and DeLloyd Pawelk.

Funeral services were Saturday, July 23 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winsted, with the Revs. Eric Goodwin and Gerald Boldt officiating. Sharon Pingree was the organist, and Franklin Schoenke was the soloist. Readers were Bobbie Jo Bauman, and Dan and Jeff Juncewski.

Congregational hymns were “How Great Thou Art, “Amazing Grace,” and “Abide with Me.” Glennard’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren sang “Jesus Loves Me.” Interment followed at the Winsted Public Cemetery.

Friends called Friday, July 22 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted. A prayer service took place at 7 p.m.

Honorary casket bearers were granddaughters Bobbie Jo Baumann, Pam Juncewski, Michelle Lahr, Crystal Pawelk, and Roseanna Pawelk.

Casket bearers were Danny Juncewski, Brandon Pawelk, Jeff Juncewski, Brian Juncewski, Carl Pavlish, and Jared Pawelk.

Memorials are suggested for St. John’s Lutheran Church in Winsted or Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson.

The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted served the family.
