Elaine Roepke, 75

Elaine Roepke, age 75 of Lester Prairie, died Sunday, Oct. 9, 2005 at the Birchwood: The Mary Burich Hospice Home in Hutchinson.

Elaine was born July 1, 1930 in Lester Prairie, the daughter of William and Pearl (Kirkpatrick) Berry. She attended country school in Lester Prairie.

Elaine was united in marriage to Vernon Roepke Oct. 1, 1947. The couple was blessed with three children: Gary, Kathryn, and Colleen.

A lifetime resident of Lester Prairie, Elaine enjoyed growing roses and spending time with her family.

She was a member of the Church of God in Litchfield.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, William and Pearl Berry; husband Vernon; brother William E. Berry; and sister Lilly Wegner.

She is survived by her children: Gary Roepke of Rochester; Kathy Berscheid (husband Rick) of Delano, and Colleen Roepke of New Germany; grandchildren Jacob Berscheid of Eden Prairie, and Benjamin Berscheid of Delano; sister Jean O’Donnell of St. Louis Park; and sister-in-law Phyllis Berry of Lester Prairie; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services were Wednesday, Oct. 12 at 11:30 a.m. at the Paul-McBride Funeral Chapel in Lester Prairie with Pastor Dale Swartz officiating. Pastor Swartz was also the organist, and the congregational hymns were “What A Friend We Have In Jesus,” and “In The Garden.” Interment was in the Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.

Vistation took place one hour prior to the funeral service at the Paul-McBride Funeral Chapel in Lester Prairie.

Serving as casket bearers were Gary Roepke, Kathryn Berscheid, Rick Berscheid, Colleen Roepke, Jacob Berscheid, and Benjamin Berscheid.

The Paul-McBride Funeral Chapel in Lester Prairie handled the arrangements.
