Agnes D. Rolf
Agnes D. Rolf, age 98 and formerly of Lester Prairie, died Friday, Jan. 7, 2005 at Burns Manor in Hutchinson.
She was born June 10, 1906 in Bergen Township, McLeod County, the daughter of Henry and Ida (Birkholz) Lampher.
Agnes was born again to be God’s own child by the “washing of water in the Word” when she was baptized July 1, 1906 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Bergen Township. She was also instructed in the Lutheran Catechism and confirmed in the Christian faith March 28, 1920 at St. Peter Lutheran Church.
Agnes and Willam P. Rolf were joined in holy marriage June 19, 1929 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Bergen Township. God blessed their marriage with two children, Arduin Rolf and Lois Adams.
Agnes and William engaged in dairy farming in Winsted Township, McLeod County for many years. William preceded his wife in death April 8, 1995.
Agnes was a faithful member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie.
She is survived by her son, Arduin (Ruth) Rolf of Silver Lake; her daughter, Lois (Robert) Adams of Glencoe; grandchildren: Roger and Russell Rolf, Jody (Keith) Cushman, and Karen (Kevin) Post; great-grandchildren, Grace and Benjamin Cushman; a sister, Evelyn Fenske of Lester Prairie; sisters-in-law, Orbina Lampher of Olivia, and Irene Schmalz of Winsted; a brother-in-law, Gilbert Rolf of Lester Prairie; and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, Agnes was preceded in death by grandsons Dale and Gary Adams; four brothers: Ed, George, Milton, and Clarence Lampher; and a sister, Rufina McCurdy.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Jan. 11 at 2 p.m. at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie, with the Rev. Eric M. Nelson officiating. Interment followed at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery.
Marsha Christenson was the organist for the funeral service. Congregational hymns were “Amazing Grace” and “I Know that My Redeemer Lives.” Marvin Westermann, vocalist, sang “What a Friend We Have in Jesus.”
Friends called Monday, Jan. 10 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the church. A prayer service took place at 5:45 p.m.
Casket bearers were Roger Rolf, Russell Rolf, Keith Cushman, David Klitzke, Merlin Mathews, and Louis Rolf.
The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted served the family.
