Oscar Martin Rolf obituary, 11/1/05


Oscar Martin Rolf, age 84 of Bergen Township, rural Lester Prairie, died Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2005 at St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted.
He was born June 5, 1921 in Bergen Township, rural Lester Prairie, McLeod County, the son of Paul and Augusta Heidenreich Rolf.
Oscar was baptized June 19, 1921 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie; and instructed in the Lutheran catechism and confirmed in the Christian faith at the same church April 14, 1935.
Oscar was joined in holy marriage to Ruth C. Stoeckmann Nov. 7, 1942 at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Hamburg. God blessed their marriage with three children.
Oscar engaged in dairy farming in Bergen Township for many years.
He enjoyed playing cards, fishing, spending time with family and friends, and visiting and drinking coffee. He also loved baseball and football.
Oscar was a lifetime, faithful member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie.
He is survived by his children, Pamela (LeRoy) Farber of Montrose, Jerry (Susan) Rolf of Lester Prairie, and Roger (Kate) Rolf of Detroit Lakes; grandchildren Abby, Cody, Serena, and Elissa Rolf; Chad (Mary) Farber, and Nancy Farber; four great-grandchildren: Taylor Keinholz, Briana Keinholz, Eathan Farber, and Nathaniel Farber; and other relatives and friends.
Oscar was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, Dec. 1, 1998; his parents, Paul and Augusta Heidenreich Rolf; and sisters and a brother, Bertha Holtz, Lillian Schultz, Luella Rolf, Edwin Rolf, and Eleanora Kennedy.
Funeral services were Saturday, Nov. 5 at 10 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie, with the Rev. Eric Nelson officiating. Marsha Christenson was the organist for the funeral service. Congregational hymns were “On Eagles’ Wings,” “Rock of Ages,” and “Amazing Grace.” Interment was in St. Paul’s Cemetery.
Friends called Friday, Nov. 4 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted.
Casket bearers were his children and their spouses.
The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted served the family.
