Wilford S. Sandell obituary, 12/6/05


Wilford S. Sandell, 90, South Haven, died Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2005, at V.A. Medical Center, St. Cloud, where he resided the past four years.
Services were conducted Dec. 10, 2005, at Lake Union Covenant Church, rural South Haven, with the Rev. Mike McCain officiating. Music was by Marleigh Rumsey, organist, and Carol Looman, soloist. Interment was at Lake Union Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Josh Sandell, Ryan Sandell, Kallie Sandell, Matt McStotts, Dan McStotts and Eric McStotts. Honorary pallbearers were Lowell Olson, Roger Hendrickson, Robert Schmidt, David Peterson, Marshall Werner and Gary Sandell.
Wilford Stanley Sandell was born May 4, 1915, to Frank and Beda (Adams) Sandell in Kandiyohi County, Minn. He grew up in South Haven where he attended Sunday school and was confirmed at Lake Union Covenant Church.
He married Elaine Erickson on Jan. 1, 1942, in Kingston.
He served in the US Army during WWII.
Most of his life was spent working on the farm. He also did welding and was a handyman.
His leisure activities included ice fishing, deer hunting, attending auctions and socializing.
Survivors include children, Gerald of South Haven, James (Gayle) of Buffalo, Tina (Terry) McStotts of Dassel; six grandchildren; three great-grandchilden; and a sister-in-law, Betty Sandell of South Haven.
He was preceded in death by his wife on Oct. 20, 1982; a daughter, Mary; a brother, Franklin, an infant brother; and twin infant sisters.
