Ella H. Schmeckpeper obituary, 1/19/05


Ella H. Schmeckpeper, age 83 of Norwood Young America, died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2005 at the Lutheran Home in Belle Plaine.
She was born Feb. 8, 1921 in Watertown Twp., the daughter of Walter G. and Mary A. (Neske) Jaekel. She was baptized Feb. 27, 1921 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Waconia by the Rev. William Schneider, and confirmed by the same April 14, 1935.
Ella married Herman W. Schmeckpeper Feb. 11, 1945 at Zion Lutheran Church, Cologne by the Rev. R. Rottmann.
Ella loved her family. She enjoyed going to Bible classes and attending church services. She also enjoyed quilting, canning, gardening, and playing bingo.
She helped at the Clothing Depot in Glencoe.
Ella was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Schmeckpeper; grandsons James and Charles Schmeckpeper, and parents, Walter and Mary Jaekel.
Ella is survived by her children and their spouses: James and Peggy Schmeckpeper of Colorado Springs, Colo.; Sharon and Tony Storms of Glencoe, Sue Schmeckpeper of Brainerd, and Rose Gabbert and fiancée Tony Dockendorf of Hastings; grandchildren: Judy, Chris, Jessica, and Mike, Billy and Megan, Jamie, and Julie; and great-grandson Ricky.
She is further survived by brothers and sister-in-law Orville and Anna Jaekel of Carson City, Nev.; and Leslie Jackel, and Waldo Jaekel, both of Meyer; sisters and brothers-in-law Myra and Elmer Templin of Plato, and Marcella and James Reinke of Waconia; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Arthur Schmeckpeper of Glencoe, Olga and Harlan Noeldner of Cologne, Virginia Schmeckpeper of Arizona, and Savilla Schmeckpeper of Arlington; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services were Saturday, Jan. 22 at Emanuel Lutheran Church of Hamburg with the Rev. Donald Andrix officiating. Interment was in Emanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Hamburg.
Casket bearers were Billy Gabbert, Mike Lee, Tony Storms, Tony Dockendorf, Alfred Schmeckpeper, and Brian Templin.
Arrangements were by Johnson Funeral Home of Waconia.
