Lawrence N. Simons obituary, 3/15/05


Lawrence N. Simons, age 88 of Waconia, died Tuesday, March 15, 2005 at St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted.
Lawrence was born June 30, 1916 in Stewart, the son of Mathias and Frances (Klinkhammer) Simons. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Stewart.
Lawrence was united in marriage to Juliana M. Schrempp Sept. 6, 1941 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted.
Lawrence loved and enjoyed his family. He also enjoyed gardening.
He was employed as chief boiler engineer at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia for many years.
Lawrence was preceded in death by son-in-law Willie Schug Jr.; parents Mathias and Frances Simons; brother Richard Simons; and sisters Helen Kosek and Lucy Heirlmaier.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Juliana; children and spouses: Carol and Dennis Paal of Coon Rapids, Donna and Harlan Lemke of Waconia, Shirley and Tony Remer of Winsted, Bonnie and Denis Laumann of Waconia, Lois and Jim Hendricks of Watertown, Larry and Helen Simons of Young America, Janice and Al Heuer of Waconia, Paul and Barb Simons of Norwood, and John and Kay Simons of Winsted; 25 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.
Lawrence is further survived by sisters and brother-in-law Evelyn Schrempp of Shakopee, Margaret Goff of Edina, and Mary and Richard Buhr of Wheat Ridge, Colo.; sisters-in-law Marcella Notermann of Shakopee, and Dolores Schrempp of Victoria; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were Friday, March 18 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waconia with the Rev. James Himmelsbach serving as celebrant for the Mass. Interment was at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Waconia.
Casket bearers were his grandsons and granddaughters: Bob Paal, Tim Lemke, Kevin Laumann, Sue Jerde, Mark Simons, Bob Simons, Nicole Fritsche, and Katie Barden.
Arrangements were with the Johnson Funeral Home of Waconia.
