Clinton J. Spomer, 80
Clinton J. Spomer, age 80 of Watertown, and formerly of Hollywood, Mayer, died Monday, Oct. 10, 2005 at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.
He was born June 30, 1925 in Hollywood Twp., New Germany, the son of George and Katherine (Trieblhorn) Spomer. Clinton was baptized July 26, 1925 at St. John Lutheran Church, Hollywood Twp., New Germany, by the Rev. W. L. Ernst; and confirmed by the same May 7, 1939.
Clinton was united in marriage to Mervanna E. Guetzkow Aug. 5, 1950 at St. Mark Lutheran Church in New Germany, by the Rev. Fred J. Pfotenhauer.
Clinton served as a Merchant Marine from 1943-1950. He also farmed and workd at Toro Mfg. for 20 years, and at the Green Giant plant in Winsted.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mervanna; parents George and Katherine Spomer; brothers and sister-in-law Ben Spomer, and John and Lenora Spomer; sisters and brothers-in-law Esther and Roy Meyer, Elizabeth and William Domjahn, Lydia and Arthur Carson, and Ruth and Arthur Hansen; father-in-law and mother-in-law Gust and Lena Guetzkow; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Merline and DeVern Jorgensen, Ardis and Woodrow Hecksel, and Raymond Narr.
Clinton is survived by children and spouses: Katherine and Edward L. Vinkemeier of Annandale, Keith and Barbara Spomer of Mayer, and Kimberly O’Dell of Rogers, Ark.; grandchildren Ed and Heidi Vinkemeier, Brian Binkemeier, Julie and Josh Utsch, Sarah and Craig Katzenberger, Bill and Rachele Spomer, Kris and Brad Matter, Amy O’Dell, and Amanda O’Dell; great-grandchildren Dylan and Cole Matter, Jacob Vinkemeier, and Mia Utsch; sisters-in-law Cordella Spomer of Delano, and Vernice Narr of Watertown; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were Wednesday, Oct. 12 at 7:30 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia with the Rev. Robert Rupprecht officiating.
Arrangements were by Johnson Funeral Home of Waconia.
