Selma A. Stender obituary, 10/27/05


Selma A. Stender, age 86 of Norwood Young America, died Thursday, Oct. 27, 2005 at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.
She was born May 29, 1919 in Waconia Township, Carver County, the daughter of Adolph and Selma (Mix) Boettcher. Selma was baptized July 6, 1919 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Waconia, by the Rev. William Schneider, and confirmed April 9, 1933 by the same.
Selma married Fred H. Stender Sept. 3, 1941 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waconia, by the Rev. William Schneider.
As a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Selma enjoyed reading, baking, and music. She also played both the organ and the piano.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred; son-in-law Duane Pevestorf; parents Adolf and Selma Boettcher; and sisters Adele Lemke and Lillian Hilk.
Selma is survived by her children and spouses; Marla and Kenneth Quaas of Winsted, Vergeane and Ronald Groenke of Marco Islalnd, Fla.; Bonnie and Lynn Mueller of Frohna, Mo.; and RaNaye and Richard Ische of Waconia; 17 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
She is further survived by her aunt Adeline Bade of New Ulm; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were Sunday, Oct. 30 at 2 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Norwood Young America with the Rev. Scott Gustafson officiating. Interment was in Mau Memorial Cemetery, Norwood Young America.
Casket bearers were Selma’s grandsons: Brian Quaas, Brad Quaas, Brent Quaas, Greg Groenke, Steve Groenke, Kevin Pevestorf, Kyle Pevestorf, Kurt Pevestorf, Chris Ische, and Nathan Ische.
Arrangements were by Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia.
