Doris A. Stieve, age 78 of Watertown, died Thursday, June 23, 2005 at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.
Doris was born Dec. 8, 1926 in New Germany, the daughter of William F. and Elsie I. (Schoenke) Kutzke. She was baptized Feb. 2, 1927 at St. Mark Lutheran Church, New Germany, by the Rev. Theodore Rolf, and confirmed by the same March 17, 1940.
Doris was united in marriage to Earl A. Stieve Nov. 8, 1944 at her parents’ home in New Germany by the Rev. John W. Meyer.
For many years, Doris was employed at Tonka Toys, Rosemount, Inc., and also worked part-time at the Mound Convenience Store. She also waitressed at Waco Cafe in Waconia, and wrote the New Germany News for many years.
Doris loved being involved with her family, and she enjoyed making each family member a photo history book.
She was involved with senior citizens, and enjoyed card parties, bingo, sewing, doing crossword puzzles, and arts and crafts.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Earl; parents William and Elsie Kutzke; infant brother Earlan Kutzke; sister Glenna Remer; father-in-law and mother-in-law Frank Sr. and Agnes Stieve; and brothers-in-law Joe Remer and Ron Stieve.
She is survived by her children and their spouses: Charlotte and Les Hahn of Mayer, Clyde and Linda Stieve of Delano, Steven Stieve of Franklin, Lucinda and Kenneth Klein of Watertown, Bonita and Delmer Bentz of Lester Prairie, Clark and Joy Stieve of Waconia, and Brenda and Greg Bury of Watertown; and 16 grandchildren: Earl Stieve, Jeremey Stieve, Keith Bury, Dustin Bentz, Peter Klein, Branden Bury, Lesly Hahn, Ann Lowe, Becky Jobe, Dawn Gjerson, Jenna Klein, Jody Bentz, Nicole Stieve, Jessica Turan, Courtney Volby, and Tanya Bury.
She is further survived by great-grandchildren Zachary, Ryan, Aaron, Whitney, Kimberly, Joe, Stephanie, Corey, Madison, Hannah, Eja, and Logan; aunts Adeline Hoenk and Lillian Johnson, both of Watertown; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Gordon and Lorraine Stieve of Necedah, Wis.; Frank Jr. and Mavis Stieve of Pequot Lakes, and Kathy Stieve of Mayer; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services were Monday, June 27 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Watertown with the Rev. Paul Krentz officiating. Interment was at Union Cemetery in Mound.
Casket bearers were grandsons Earl Stieve, Jeremey Stieve, Keith Bury, Dustin Bentz, Peter Klein, and Branden Bury.
Honorary casket bearers were granddaughters Lesly Hahn, Ann Lowe, Becky Jobe, Dawn Gjerson, Jenna Klein, Jody Bentz, Nicole Stieve, Jessica Turan, Courtney Volby, and Tanya Bury.
Arrangements were by the Johnson Funeral Home of Waconia.
