Leonard E. Unglaub, age 87 of Watertown, died Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2005 at Elim Home in Watertown.
He was born Aug. 14, 1918 in Camden Township, Carver County, the son of William and Elizabeth (Kohls) Unglaub. Leonard was baptized Sept. 1, 1918 at St. Mark Lutheran Church in New Germany by the Rev. Theodore Rolf; and confirmed by the same March 20, 1932.
He was united in marriage to Darlene A. Biersdorf Oct. 5, 1950 at Zion Lutheran Church, Mayer, by the Rev. Martin Rische.
Leonard and Darlene farmed until they moved to Watertown in 1979.
A WW II veteran, Leonard was a member of the New Germany American Legion Post. He held offices at Zion Lutheran Church, and also did caretaker work.
Leonard loved to fish, play cards, dance, and listen to Old Tyme music.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Elizabeth Unglaub; sisters Florence Schuettpelz, Lynda Trittabaugh, and Lida Feltmann; and brothers Clarence and Howard Unglaub.
Leonard is survived by his loving wife, Darlene; daughter and son-in-law Sandra and Bruce Narr of Dassel; grandchildren Gene, Wendy, and Jesse Narr; sister Myrtle Laumann of Norwood Young America; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Leonard and Kathy Biersdorf of Monticello; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were Saturday, Nov. 5 at 1 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Mayer with the Rev. Harald Schoubye officiating. Interment followed in Crow River Cemetery in New Germany. A Post military graveside service took place at the cemetery.
Casket bearers were Leonard’s nephews: Harold Schuettpelz, Gerald Schuettpelz, Steven Schuettpelz, Ralph Unglaub, Ronald Unglaub, Mark Unglaub, Wayne Feltmann, Keith Laumann, and Dennis Trittabaugh.
Arrangements were by Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia.
