Larry R. Wendolek
Larry R. Wendolek, age 50, of rural Glencoe, died Friday, Oct. 28, 2005 at his home as the result of a farm accident.
Lawrence “Larry” Ronald Wendolek was born April 1, 1955 in Glencoe, the son of Albin and Elizabeth (Quast) Wendolek. He attended St. Adalberts school through the eighth grade, and then graduated from Silver Lake High School.
He continued his education at Vo-Tech school in Staples, where he trained in heavy equipment.
Larry was united in marriage to Bobbi Kay Stumbo June 11, 1977 at St. John Catholic Church in Ogden, Iowa. The couple moved to the farm near Glencoe.
Along with farming, Larry worked for some time as a welder at Nordic Track, worked in construction, was employed at Lester Building Systems in Lester Prairie, was a welder for Bob Wendolek, as well as other various jobs. He was a talented man and could do most anything he put his mind to.
Larry’s passion was farming. He also enjoyed woodworking, good food, loved his drums and motorcycle while growing up, enjoyed helping others, and especially enjoyed pulling pranks on anyone who knew him. His prankster quality has created many memories for anyone who was fortunate to be on the receiving end.
Survivors include his wife, Bobbi; children, Nicole (Chad) Wendinger, Dawn Wendolek (fiancée Dan Miller), and Aaron Wendolek; grandchildren Dusty and Jesse; mother Elizabeth; siblings, Cathy Hanson, Cindy (Tom) Hanning, and Randy (Lori) Wendolek; sister-in-law Lori Wendolek; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Albin; a daughter, Jennifer; and a brother, Chris.
Mass of Christian Burial was Tuesday, Nov. 1 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake. Alice Nowak was the organist, and Jackie Konerza was the soloist. Music selections were “Here I Am Lord,” “On Eagle’s Wings,” “Be Not Afraid,” and “For All The Saints.” Interment was in St. Adalbert’s Cemetery in Silver Lake.
Visitation was from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31 at the Maresh Funeral Home in Silver Lake, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.; and continued from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday morning at the funeral chapel. Casket bearers were Keith Zajicek, Bob Wendolek, Dave Konerza, Dennis Konerza, Tim Ardolf, and Ron Penas.
The Maresh Funeral Home of Silver Lake served the family.
