Velda Mary Wiener obituary, 4/10/05


Velda Mary (Rucks) Wiener, age 71 of Blaine and formerly of Lester Prairie, died Sunday, April 10, 2005 in Coon Rapids.
She was born Dec. 6, 1933 in Fairhaven, the daughter of Arnold and Lucila (Gaylor) Rucks.
Velda was united in marriage to Howard Wiener Oct. 15, 1952 in Litchfield.
She was employed at Poly Foam Inc. for approximately 25 years.
In her free time, Velda enjoyed collecting recipes, crocheting, beading, listening to music, and spending time with her grandchildren. She also liked playing the piano, and she enjoyed her pet cats and bird.
Velda was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Howard, in March 1986; and a sister, Constance Meade.
She is survived by two daughters and one son: Lynn Jacques (husband Bradley) of Phoenix, Ariz.; Deborah Sickmann (husband Duane) of Maple Grove, and Sidney Wiener (wife Betty) of Wisconsin; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Velda is further survived by three brothers and three sisters: Dennis Rucks (wife Evie) of Lakewood, Calif.; Beata Martell of Brooklyn Center, Loretta Kahlbough (husband Horace) of Duluth, Leland Rucks (wife Lu) of Two Harbors, Janet Carlson of Brooklyn Center, and Arnold Rucks of Ortonville; as well as other relatives and friends.
A private funeral service took place Wednesday, April 13 at the Paul-McBride Funeral Chapel in Lester Prairie with the Rev. Randell Tonn officiating. Interment was in the Lester Prairie city cemetery.
Casket bearers were Patrick Jacques, Eric Jacques, Christopher Sickmann, Becky Jacques, Michelle Sickmann, and Wayne Allen Carlson.
Arrangements were by the Paul-McBride Funeral Chapel in Lester Prairie.
