Ardis Loretta Ailie

Ardis Loretta Ailie, age 91, of Dassel, died Saturday, Jan. 28, 2006 at the Meeker County Memorial Hospital in Litchfield.

Ardis was born Feb. 10, 1914 to Elton and Mary Rumsey of Kingston. She was baptized at the Church of Christ in Dassel, and was a long-time member of the Kingston Apostolic Lutheran Church in Kingston.

Ardis spent most of her life in the Kingston and Dassel area, graduating from eighth grade at the Hilltop Country School in rural Kingston.

She was united in marriage to the love of her life, Wyman Ailie of Dassel, Sept. 16, 1933 at the Knapp parsonage. Ardis and Wyman spent most of their married life farming in the Big Swan Lake area. The Lord blessed them with three children, Donald, Lois, and Dean.

Ardis enjoyed cooking, gardening, crocheting, and visiting with friends and family. She and Wyman enjoyed their retirement by fleeing the cold Minnesota weather and wintering in Florida and Texas.

She will be missed by her three children, Donald (Elaine) Ailie of Monticello, Lois (Dale) Nordstrom of Dassel, and Dean (Betty) Ailie of Dassel; sister-in-law Edith Ailie of Dassel; 12 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Ardis was preceded in death by her husband, Wyman; sisters Fern Johnson, and Amy Johnson; brothers Alvin, Allen, and Virgil; and infant sister Pearl.

A funeral service took place Tuesday, Jan. 31 at 1 p.m. at the Apostolic Lutheran Church in Kingston, with the Rev. Peter Bergstedt officiating. Music was provided by duet Megan and Steven Soderlund, trio Michelle Soderlund, Brenda Arthur, and Eric Nordstrom, and pianist Beth Nordstrom. Interment was at the Cokato Finnish Cemetery, Cokato Township, Wright County.

A visitation took place Monday, Jan. 30 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel, and continued for one hour prior to the service at the church Tuesday.

Casket bearers were Mark Ailie, Charles Ailie, Ryan Ailie, Eric Nordstrom, John Nordstrom, Steven Rumsey, and Tom Arthur.

Arrangements were by the Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel.
