Sandy Althoff

Sandy Althoff, age 63, of Delano, died Friday, Oct. 20, 2006 at her home.

She was born June 5, 1943 to Erwin and Elvira Eisenbacher in Sleepy Eye. Sandy grew up in New Ulm, graduating from Cathedral High School in New Ulm.

She furthered her education at the Franciscan Convent in Little Falls, and received her registered nurse degree from St. Mary’s College in Minneapolis.

Sandy was employed by Allina Buffalo Hospital in Buffalo for 23 years, many of those years she worked in the OB department as a labor and delivery nurse.

She enjoyed horseback riding very much, and made many trips with her “Saddle Sisters.”

Sandy was a past president of the Council of Catholic Women, a member of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary, and conducted the Communion service at St. Peter Catholic Church in Delano.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Erwin and Elvira Eisenbacher; her niece, Andrea; and parents-in-law Tony and Bertha Althoff.

Sandy is survived by her husband of 36 years, George; sons Michael and Michelle Althoff, and Nathan and Catherine Althoff; daughter Stephanie and Scott Miller; and grandchildren Abigail and Aaron Althoff, and Alexander and Nicholas Althoff.

She is further survived by her daughter Carolyn and Matt Chesser; sisters Kay and Gary Nielson, and Pat and Nick Strandberg; brother Ted and Mary Jean Eisenbacher; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Harold and Shirley Althoff, and James and Georgia Althoff; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, and cousins.

Mass of Christian Burial took place Wednesday, Oct. 25 at the St. Peter Catholic Church in Delano, with the Rev. Michael Miller officiating. Interment was in the Calvary Cemetery in Delano.

The Saddle Sisters served as casket bearers and provided an honorary horse escort.

Arrangements were by the Iten Funeral Home in Delano.
