Grant Fillmore Anderson
Grant Fillmore Anderson, age 68, of Cokato, died suddenly Monday, June 5, 2006, while on vacation in Las Vegas.
The funeral service is today, June 12 at 2 p.m. at Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cokato, with interment in the Cokato City Cemetery.
Visitation took place Sunday, June 11 from 4 to 9 p.m. at Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home in Cokato; and continues today at the church, for one hour prior to the funeral service.
Arrangements are by the Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home in Cokato.
He was born Nov. 12, 1937 at home in Kingston to Gordon and Irene (Anderson) Anderson. The family moved around while he was a young boy, living in Des Moines, Iowa, Mississippi, and other places, depending on where his father’s job took them. They then settled back in Cokato, where Grant graduated from Cokato High School in 1955.
He then joined the US Air Force from January 1956 to January 1962, serving in Indiana and Texas as a F/L Maintenance mechanic.
Grant flew airplanes since he was 11 years old, He operated Andy’s Standard Service with his father in Cokato, where Pro Care is now, for about three years.
Grant then went to work at 3M in Hutchinson. He was first employed as a mechanic, and worked his way into management, retiring in 1996, after 33 years of service,
Grant enjoyed golf, pool, games of chance, fast cars, hunting, fishing, scuba diving, and water skiing. He made homemade fireworks, and tinkered with cars and motorcycles.
He was a member of the Jaycees, Hutchinson Legion, and Cokato Country Club.
Grant is survived by daughters Jodene (Raul) De La Huerta of Mexico City, Mexico, and Julie (John) Nelson of Colfax, Wis.; four grandchildren, Matthew Wuollet, Jessica (Eli) Creech, Joshua Wuollet, and Adrian Alexander De La Huerta Anderson; a sister, Jonay (Eugene) Isaacson; a brother, Harley (Janice) Anderson; Heart’s sister Roselea Nellis; and special friend Sue Klawitter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and grandson Raul Arturo De La Huerta Anderson.
