Janet Catherine Bayerl
Janet Catherine Bayerl, age 71, of Winsted, died Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2006 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Wayzata.
She was born April 30, 1934 in Hale Township, McLeod County, the daughter of Frank and Praxess Pokornowski Cacka.
Janet and Ernest W. Bayerl were joined in holy marriage Nov. 24, 1953, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Silver Lake. God blessed their marriage with two children, Steve and Kathy.
Janet was employed for 38 years at Holy Trinity Catholic School in Winsted as a cook.
She enjoyed crocheting, arts and crafts, gardening, flowers and cooking.
A faithful member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted, Janet belonged to its St. Anne’s Society and C.C.W.
She also belonged to Winsted American Legion Post 407 Auxiliary.
Janet is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Ernest W. “Ernie” Bayerl; a son, Steve Bayerl of Winsted; a daughter, Kathy (Dean) Mathews of Glencoe; grandchildren, Nathan (Misty) Bayerl of South Haven, and Nicholas Mathews and Danielle Mathews, both of Glencoe; a brother, Lorin (La Vonne) Cacka of Silver Lake; a sister, Elaine (Francis) Otten of Buffalo; a brother-in-law, Isadore Bayerl of Winsted; loving godmother Delphine Rozeske; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Praxess Cacka; an infant brother; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joseph and Johanna Bayerl; and her godfather, Isadore Cacka.
A Mass of Christian Burial took place Saturday, Jan. 7 at 2 p.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. The Rev. Paul L. Wolf was the celebrant, and Lavon Kielkucki was the organist for the Mass. Interment followed at Holy Trinity Cemetery.
Friends called Friday, Jan. 6 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted. A St. Anne’s rosary was recited at 4:30 p.m.. and a parish prayer service took place at 7:30 p.m.
Honorary casket bearers were Janet’s godchildren: Ann Cacka, Doug Jurek, Andrew Mallak Jr., Bruce Otten, and Jenny Pulkrabek.
Casket bearers were Janet’s nephews: Mark Cacka, Paul Cacka, Bruce Otten, Chuck Otten, Mike Otten, and Ron Bayerl.
The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted served the family.
