Steven John Brendmoen

Steven John Brendmoen, age 51 of Lester Prairie, died Saturday, Feb. 11, 2006 at his home after a long battle with cancer.

He was born July 21, 1954 in Webster, S.D. to Vernon and Maurine (Eidahl) Brendmoen of rural Roslyn, S.D. Steve was baptized and confirmed at Fron Lutheran Church, near Roslyn.

In 1967, the family moved to Aberdeen, S.D., where Steve graduated from high school in 1972.

Steve married Inez Henning June 30, 1979 at Christ the King Catholic Church in Henning. After their marriage, the couple made their home in Roslyn.

Steve worked in construction his entire life, first in the Roslyn area, and later with Kraus-Anderson Construction Company, where he held the position of superintendent.

In 2004, Steve moved to Lester Prairie.

His life-long passion was spending time outdoors hunting and fishing with his sons, Beau and Ross. He especially enjoyed duck hunting and relished opening season with his sons.

Known for his willingness to always help others, Steve was a long-time volunteer Emergency Medical Technician for the Roslyn Fire Department. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge.

Steven is survived by his fiancée, Joan Thompson of Lester Prairie; sons Beau Brendmoen of Wahpeton, N.D., and Ross Brendmoen of Roslyn, S.D.; his mother, Maurine Brendmoen of Webster, S.D.; two brothers, Jack (and Peggy) Brendmoen of Springfield, Va., and Todd Brendmoen of Wichita, Kans.; three sisters, Linda (and Keith) Miller of Dunnellon, Fla., Betty (and John) Terry of Aurora, Colo., and Lori (and Paul) Thorberg of Rosemount; and two granddaughters, Ryleigh and Haleigh.

He was preceded in death by his father, Vernon; and an infant sister, Peggy.

Funeral services were Wednesday, Feb. 15, at 11 a.m. at Fron Lutheran Church near Roslyn, S.D. with the Rev. Janet Johnson officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Visitation was Tuesday, Feb. 14 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster, S.D., and prior to the funeral service on Wednesday.
