Edna Margaret Burns
Edna Margaret Burns, age 93 of Burnsville, and formerly of Watertown, died Sunday, Feb. 19, 2006 at her daughter’s home in Burnsville.
She was born June 16, 1912 in Litchfield, to Michael and Anna (Murphy) McGraw.
Edna was united in marriage to Joseph Martin Burns July 22, 1936.
A schoolteacher, Edna taught at rural districts 48 and 76, New Germany public school, and Holy Trinity School in Winsted.
In 1976, Edna and Joe moved off of the farm and into Watertown, and eventually to Burnsville.
Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Joe, in 1996.
She is survived by daughters Margaret (Dick) Gross, and Mary Jo Severance, all of Burnsville; sons Joe Burns of Fairmont, and John Burns of Houston, Texas; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Edna is further survived by sisters Lucille O’Connell of Plymouth, Eleanore Watson of Brooklyn Center, and Marcella and Ed Pampy of Hermet, Calif.
Mass of Christian Burial took place Wednesday, Feb. 22 at 10 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown. The Rev. Ambrose Meehan officiated, with Pastor Frank Wampach concelebrating. Interment was in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
Visitation was the evening of Tuesday, Feb. 21 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Savage; and continued Wednesday morning at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown, prior to the Mass.
Casket bearers were Edna’s granddaughters: Amy Seaman, Suzanne Severance, Michelle Breshears, Elizabeth Velez, Kate Jacobsen, Ann Friederichs, Allison Ebert, and Maggie Gross.
The Iten’s Watertown Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
