Ervin J. Cardinal
Ervin J. Cardinal, age 93, of Waverly, died Friday, Dec. 1, 2006.
He was born Sept. 16, 1913 in a log cabin in Grand Marais, Minn. to Edward and Rose (LePage) Cardinal.
Ervin was united in marriage to Florence Babatz Nov. 21, 1939, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waverly. God blessed their marriage with six children.
Ervin engaged in farming for many years, and was also formerly employed at National Foods in Hopkins. He belonged to Teamsters Union 544.
He was a longtime, faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waverly.
Ervin enjoyed family, fishing, mowing grass, and playing rap poker.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Florence; children: Gerald (Christine) Cardinal of Forest Lake, Nancy (Barrett) Hamlink of Cokato, Jeffrey (Debra) Cardinal, and Colleen (Greg) Donovan, all of Buffalo; daughter-in-law Candy Cardinal of Cokato; grandsons: Christopher Cardinal, Anthony Cardinal, Daniel Cardinal, Timothy Cardinal, Thomas Cardinal, Gerad Cardinal, Jonathan Donovan, Nathan Donovan, and Kenneth Segler; granddaughters Julie Olson, Jill Schrupp, Sarah Cardinal, Charity Donovan, Jessie Donovan, and Sarah Houge; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Ervin is further survived by sisters Bernice Trebesch of Mahnomen, and Luella Simon of Hutchinson; sisters- and brothers-in-law, Mary Cardinal of Lester Prairie, Agnes Pfeifer of Duluth, Norma Babatz of Spring Lake Park, Mary Babatz of Buffalo, Mary Motzko of Watertown, Ellen ‘Alice’ (Marvin) Scheuble of Montrose, and Andy Simon of Hutchinson; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial was Tuesday, Dec. 5 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waverly.
Visitation was Monday, Dec. 4 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Peterson Chapel of Buffalo, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
