Agnes Elizabeth Dammann
Agnes Elizabeth Dammann, age 86, of Glencoe, died Friday, Oct. 13, 3006 at St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted.
She was born June 18, 1920 in Washington Lake Township, Minn., the daughter of William and Elizabeth (Kroells) Herrmann. Agnes was baptized July 1, 1920 at home, and later confirmed into the faith March 25, 1934 at Evangelical & Reformed Church in Hamburg by the Rev. Rapp.
Agnes attended District 25 country school in Sibley County.
She was united in marriage to Harold Dammann Nov. 29, 1945 at the Evangelical & Reformed Church in Hamburg by the Rev. Vriesen. The couple made their home on a farm just south of Glencoe, in Helen Township.
Agnes enjoyed cooking, baking, quilting, embroidery, puzzles, playing cards, and doing word search puzzles. She also enjoyed listening to polka music and would often watch the Bandwagon Polka Show on television. She loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister and brother, Janet Hoese and Leroy Herrmann; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Verona Bussmann, Dorothy Herrmann, Loren Dammann, Arthur Bussmann, Leroy Kohls, Clayton Hoese, and Herman Schmidt.
Agnes is survived by her children: Lowell Dammann of Chaska, Lyle Dammann (wife Sue) of Glencoe, and Carol Heinen (husband James) of Arlington, Wash.; grandchildren Nicole Breitkruetz (husband Brice), Angela Dammann, all of Glencoe, Tiffany Dammann of Hutchinson, Jennifer Hawes (husband Dan) of LaPine, Ore., Brandy Horstman (husband Jared), and Joseph McNeil, all of Webster, Wis.; and great-grandchildren Kyle, Tyler, and Dylan Melchert, Molly Breitkruetz, Tamera and Catera Williams, Blake Hawes, Jade and Chase Horstman.
She is further survived by siblings: Irene Gruenhagen (husband Martin) of Hamburg, Bernice Kohls of Norwood Young America, Delmer Herrmann (wife Dorothy) of Glencoe, and William Herrmann (wife Pat) of Waconia; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Ruth Kruschke (husband Reuben) of Glencoe, Betty Oelfke (husband Harold) of Arlington, Virginia Ernst (husband Reuben) of Glencoe, and Muriel Zieroth (husband Loren) of Waconia; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Oct. 17 at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Helen Township, with the Rev. Dennis Reichow officiating. The organist was Rick Grieger, and the congregational hymns were “Just As I Am,” “How Great Thou Art,” and “What A Friend We Have In Jesus.” Interment was in the church cemetery.
Serving as casket bearers were Jonathan Zieroth, Gale Hoese, Wayne Oelfke, Mark Dammann, Kevin Kohls, and Bruce Gruenhagen.
Visitation took place Monday evening, Oct. 16 at the Johnson-McBride Funeral Chapel in Glencoe, which handled the arrangements.
