Alfred W. Domjahn
Alfred W. Domjahn, age 89 of Montrose, died Friday, April 21, 2006 at St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted.
He was born Aug. 7, 1916 at Woodland Twp., Wright County, the son of Herman E. and Amelia (Lemke) Domjahn. Alfred was baptized Aug. 20, 1916 at St. Mark Lutheran Church in New Germany by the Rev. Theo Rolf, and confirmed by the same April 13, 1930.
Alfred was united in marriage to Dolores O. Jorgensen Nov. 28, 1940 at Nylunda Lutheran Church by the Rev. Alex Sand.
Through the years, he was employed at Green Giant, hauled milk, farmed, and did woodwork after retirement.
Alfred enjoyed deer hunting, ice fishing, and vacationing.
He served on the church council for two terms, both at Nylunda Lutheran and Trinity Lutheran churches. He also served on the board of District 111 country school, the Woodland Twp. board, and on the Wright County Fair boards for 25 years.
In addition, he was a 4-H leader, and served on the advisory council for Wright County 4-H.
Alfred was a loving husband, dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Amelia Domjahn; brothers and sister-in-law Alvin and Evelyn Domjahn, and Arthur Domjahn; brother-in-law Harold Weege; father-in-law and mother-in-law Magnus and Alice Jorgensen; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Ordean Jorgensen, Myles and Clara Jorgensen, DeLloyd Pawelk, Orlyn Knott, and DeVern and Merline Jorgensen.
Alfred is survived by his loving family: wife Dolores; son and daughter-in-law Rodney and Shirley Domjahn of Montrose; daughters and son-in-law Joann and Gene Feltmann of Lester Prairie, and Sharon Schroeder of Montrose; grandchildren Nancy and Quay Zander of Howard Lake, Rick Feltmann and fiancée Tina Townsend, Tanya and Scott Tesch, all of Lester Prairie, and Dan and Becky Domjahn of Montrose; and great-grandchildren Brianna Tesch, Rebecca Zander, Jacob Zander, Nathaniel Tesch, and Ethan Domjahn.
He is further survived by sister LaVerna Weege of Buffalo; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Elaine Pawelk of Waverly, Glen and Diane Jorgensen of Waverly, and Norbert Knott of New Germany; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services were Monday, April 24 at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Watertown, with the Revs. Robert Ericson and Beth Johnson officiating. Interment at Nylunda Lutheran Cemetery in Howard Lake.
Casket bearers were grandchildren Nancy Zander, Rick Feltmann, Tanya Tesch, Dan Domjahn, Quay Zander, Scott Tesch, Becky Domjahn, and Tina Townsend.
Arrangements were by the Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia.
