Steven Roger Erickson
Steven Roger Erickson, age 52, of Dassel, died Monday, July 10, 2006, at his residence.
He was born Nov. 23, 1953 in Hutchinson, the son of Roger and Mae (Granquist) Erickson. The Erickson family lived in Stockholm, Knapp, and in 1959, they moved to a farm in Dassel Township.
Steven was baptized at Stockholm Lutheran Church and confirmed at All Saints Lutheran in Darwin. He attended school at Happy Corner School, Darwin Elementary, and graduated from Dassel High School in 1972. He continued his education at the Staples Vo-Tech to be a machinist.
Steven was united in marriage to Cindy Goodroad Sept. 29, 1984, in St. Paul. Together, they made their home in Dassel Township. To this union two children were born, Kelly Lynn and Bradley. Cindy and Kelly Lynn died in a devastating house fire Aug. 1, 1992.
Steven was united in marriage to Maxine Snow Nov. 3, 2001, in Litchfield.
Steven had been employed as a machinist in Minneapolis for several years, and later was employed at HTI in Hutchinson for 16 years.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, attending auctions, and watching wrestling.
Steven is survived by his wife, Maxine, of Dassel; son Bradley Erickson of Dassel; two stepsons, Matthew Nauffts and Michael Nauffts of Nova Scotia, Canada; his mother, Mae, and her husband, Arnold Evenski of Dassel; brother, Ron Erickson and significant other (Sue Azure) of Dassel; and sister Kathy (Ralph) Woetzel of Dassel.
In addition to his first wife, Cindy, and daughter Kelly Lynn, he was preceded in death by his father, Roger.
A funeral service took place Friday, July 14 at 10:30 a.m. at the Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Dassel, with the Rev. Vicki Toutges officiating. Soloist Joan Benson sang “Here I Am Lord.” Florine Osness was the organist. Other hymns were “How Great Thou Art,” and “Amazing Grace.” Interment was at the All Saints Lutheran Cemetery in Darwin.
Visitation was Thursday July 13 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Dassel, and continued for one hour prior to the service Friday.
Casketbearers were Brian Anderson, Richard Wick, Alvin Jensen, Terry Coughlin, Gary Ahlgren, and Leon Nordberg.
Arrangements were by the Johnson Funeral Home of Dassel.
