Donald A. Escen

Donald A. Escen, age 86 of Burbank, Calif., and formerly of Dassel, died Monday, Feb. 6, 2006 in California.

He was born July 13, 1919 in Litchfield, to Adolph and Amanda (Lund) Escen. Donald grew up in Dassel, graduating from high school in 1937.

For a number of years, Don worked with his father in the Fairway grocery store in Dassel.

Don and Eleanor Cummelin were united in marriage in 1947 in Los Angeles, Calif.

Don served in WW II, and was part of the D-Day invasion.

He was employed by Disney Studios for 35 years, retiring as company treasurer. Don was honored as a Disney legend in 1998, along with 18 others including Dick Van Dyke, Kurt Russell, and Hayley Mills.

Donald is survived by sons Dale and Dean (Deborah); and three grandchildren.

Funeral services and interment took place Feb. 12 in California.
