Paul Allen Escen

Paul Allen Escen, age 79 of Phoenix, Ariz., died Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2006 following an extended battle with Parkinson’s Disease.

He was born Sept. 29, 1926, the youngest son of Adolph and Amanda (Lund) Escen.

Paul and his wife, Sylvia, both from Dassel, were married July 10, 1949. They celebrated 53 years of marriage before Sylvia preceded Paul in death December 2002.

Paul was a professional photographer who started his career in the Twin Cities, then moved to Tucson, Ariz., where he worked for Hughes Aircraft for three years. He and Sylvia later moved to Phoenix, where Paul spent 29 years directing photo operations for Arizona Public Services Company.

Paul was a kind and caring man with a wonderful sense of humor.

Paul’s brother, Donald, preceded him in death by two weeks in California.

He is survived by two nephews, Dean and Dale Escens; and several cousins.

A memorial service celebrating Paul’s life will take place Tuesday, March 14 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Phoenix, Ariz. Paul will be laid to rest next to his wife, Sylvia, at the Dassel Cemetery at a later date.

Arrangements are by Hansen Mortuary in Phoenix, Ariz.


Graveside services for Paul A. Escen, age 79, of Phoenix, Ariz., and formerly of Dassel, will take place Wednesday, June 7, at 11 a.m. at the Dassel Cemetery. Paul died Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2006 in Phoenix, Ariz. following an extended battle with Parkinson’s Disease.

Paul and his wife, Sylvia, both of Dassel, were married July 10, 1949. They shared 53 years of marriage before Sylvia preceded Paul in death in December 2002.

A professional photographer, Paul began his career in the Twin Cities, and was employed for 29 years directing photo operations for Arizona Public Service Company.

He is survived by two nephews and several cousins.

Memorial services took place March 14 in Phoenix, Ariz.

Local arrangements are by the Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel.
