Alma Cecelia Evenski
Alma Cecelia Evenski, age 95 of Cokato, died Thursday, April 27, 2006 at the Cokato Manor.
She was born March 14, 1911, on a small farm near Inland Lake in Collegeville, Minn. to Guedo and Otillia (Phillippi) Gillitzer. She grew up in this area, and lived in Alabama for a time with her family.
Alma was married to Steve Evenski May 12, 1931. They resided in Cokato and had five sons.
Alma raised and sold gladiolas, some years she would earn as much as $1500. She had a very large garden.
She enjoyed quilting, embroidering, tatting, fishing, and cooking.
Alma was a faithful member of her church, Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted.
She is survived by her sons, Roland of Palm Desert, Calif., Edward of Altoona, Fla., Arnold of Dassel, and Vernon of Grand Rapids, Mich.; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren, who dearly loved her and will miss her very much.
Alma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Steve; a son, Orvin; and daughters-in-law, Carolyne and Arlene.
Mass of Christian Burial was Tuesday, May 2 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted with the Rev. Paul Wolf as the celebrant. Music was provided by Alice Nowak. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Casket bearers were Alma’s grandchildren.
Arrangements were by Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home in Cokato.
