Eugene “Gene” Fiecke

Eugene “Gene” Fiecke, age 82, of Lester Prairie, died Thursday, Oct. 26, 2006 at Birchwood Hospice House in Hutchinson.

He was born July 13, 1924 in Hollywood Township, Carver County, the son of Joseph and Anna Kieser Fiecke.

Eugene was joined in holy marriage to Leona Domjahn Sept. 20, 1952, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. God blessed their marriage with six daughters.

Gene engaged in farming for many years, and was later employed as a machinist for Sterner Lighting. He retired from Sterner Lighting in 1987.

A faithful member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted, Gene also belonged to the Knights of Columbus Council 8253 and Catholic Aid.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Leona Fiecke; daughters: Carol Pogue and special friend Terry Thomson of Chisago City, Joan (Alan) Teubert of Hutchinson, Janet Grimm, Marilyn (Doug) Ranzau, all of Glencoe, Lois Fiecke and special friend Wally Tanke of Lester Prairie, and Renee (Kent) Glessing of Hutchinson; and 14 grandchildren: Larry (Kim) Pogue Jr., Greg (Jenn) Pogue, Leif Teubert, Kevin (Angie) Grimm Jr., Angela, Tina, and Kenny Grimm, Jenny (James) Dahlke, Jason and Niki Ranzau, Christopher, Jeremy, and Ryan Fiecke, and Sean Glessing

He is further survived by 10 great-grandchildren: Emily Pogue; Trevor, Michael, and Mackenzie Pogue; Parker Teubert; Benjamin Grimm; Travis and Zachary Dahlke; Caleb Ranzau, and Isabella Fiecke; step grandchildren: Lisa (Cliff) Knoll, Brian Teubert, Cheri Teubert, Mark (Pam) Teubert, Chad (Nicole) Teubert, Tom (Dena) Glessing, and Amy Glessing; and many step great-grandchildren.

In addition, Gene is survived by brothers and sisters-in-law Alphonse (Rose) Fiecke of Winsted, Joseph Fiecke of Tacoma, Wash., and Francis (Joan) Fiecke of Winsted; sisters Leona (Albin) Lewandowski of Silver Lake, and Loretta Thiesen of Winsted; sisters-in-law Eleanor Fiecke of Buffalo and Aggie Fiecke of Silver Lake; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Audrey (Ron) Graunke of Delano; nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents; three grandchildren, Robert, Scott, and Michelle Pogue; sisters Mary Rohling and Agnes Horstmann; brothers Ben, Henry, and Clemens Fiecke; brothers-in-law Raymond Thiesen, Albert Rohling, and John Horstmann; sister-in-law Annie Fiecke; father-in-law and mother-in-law Arthur and Evelyn Domjahn; step father-in-law Alvin Domjahn; and by a godson, Edward Fiecke.

A Mass of Christian Burial took place Monday, Oct. 30 at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted with Father Paul L. Wolf as the celebrant. Alice Nowak was the organist, and special music was provided by Chuck Thiel, Alan Teubert, Chad Teubert, and Sean Glessing. Gift bearers were Gene’s godchildren: Jenny Dahlke, Kevin Grimm Jr., and Jeremy Fiecke. Reader for the Mass was Pam Fiecke. Interment followed at Holy Trinity Cemetery.

Friends called Sunday, Oct. 29 from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted. A combined Knights of Columbus and Catholic Aid Rosary was recited at 7 p.m.. and a parish prayer service took place at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continued Monday morning, Oct. 30, for one hour prior to the Mass, at the funeral home.

Casket bearers were Stanley Horstmann, Jerry Fiecke, David Fiecke, Paul Fiecke, Mark Fiecke, Tom Fiecke, Steve Fiecke, and John Thiesen.

Funeral arrangements were handled by the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted.
