Zola Theresia Forsberg
Zola Theresia Forsberg, age 90, of Dassel, died Tuesday, May 9, 2006, at the Lakeview Ranch in Dassel.
A funeral service will take place today, May 15, at 11 a.m. at the Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Dassel, with the Revs. Steven Olson and John Peterson officiating. Organist is Florine Osness. Soloist John Benson will sing “His Eye Is On The Sparrow,” and “On Eagle’s Wings.” Congregational hymns are “Lift High The Cross,” “What A Friend We Have In Jesus,” “How Great Thou Art.
Visitation was Sunday evening, May 14 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel, and continues today one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the Dassel Cemetery.
Casket bearers are Michael Morris, Andy and Bridget Forsberg, Rebecca and Blair Lothe, Melissa and Lloyd Christenson, and Christopher and Sarah Morris.
Zola was born Aug. 27, 1915 in Minneapolis, the daughter of Albert and Anna (Norman) Goranson. At a young age, her family moved to Mora, where they farmed for a few years.
When she was nine years old, the family moved to Cokato. Zola attended school in Cokato for her education.
She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith, and was presently a member of the Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Dassel.
Zola was united in marriage to Dilner Forsberg Sept. 12, 1936 in Cokato. Together, they made their home in Collinwood Township, where they farmed until Dilner’s death Dec. 5, 1976.
Zola worked as a nurses aid at the Dassel Lakeside Nursing Home for over 20 years.
She loved to take care of her family and friends. She also enjoyed quilting, baking, singing, and spending time reading and writing, and had finished writing a book of her life stories.
Zola loved her family dearly, and took great pride in all of their accomplishments. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Zola is survived by her family, Jerald (Norma) Forsberg of Dassel, Carol (Gregory) McCarty of Woodbury, Jarolynn Morris of Minneapolis; five grandchildren, Michael Morris, Andy (Bridget) Forsberg, Rebecca (Blair) Lothe, Melissa (Lloyd) Christenson, and Christopher (Sarah) Morris; five great-grandchildren, Eric Morris, Logan Forsberg, Jacob Christenson, Elizabeth Morris, and Noah Christenson; and one sister, Zaga (Fran) Heuer of Mora.
In addition to her husband, Dilner; Zola was preceded in death by her parents; a son-in-law, Ralph Morris; and two brothers, Marvin and LeRoy.
Arrangements are by the Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel.
