Samuel Patrick Fox

Samuel Patrick Fox, age 71, of St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted, and formerly of Burnsville, died Tuesday, March 14, 2006 at Glencoe Regional Health Services.

He was born Aug. 30, 1934, the son of Samuel and Winnifred Fox, and was raised and attended school in Minneapolis.

He served in the US Navy Reserve from 1954 until 1962.

Samuel was united in marriage with Marilyn J. Carlson in June of 1954 at Salem English Lutheran Church in Minneapolis.

Over the years, Samuel worked for Great Northern Railroad, Lakeside Toys, Northern Hydraulics, Rainbow Play Systems, and General Electric. His position was usually in warehouse management, until his retirement in 1997.

Samuel was admitted to St. Mary’s Care Center in December 2002, after he could no longer care for himself.

He enjoyed doing crafts. One of his favorite things was to give a “trio of angels” to his family and friends.

Samuel also enjoyed movies, television, music, and poetry. He wrote many poems for family and friends and also for the monthly newsletter at St. Mary’s.

Samuel especially enjoyed people – he loved to tease and joke with them.

He was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law and father-in-law; and special niece Lisa.

Samuel is survived by Marilyn of Glencoe; sons Michael Fox (wife Sharon) of Glencoe, and Todd Fox of Roseville; number one grandson Ryan Fox of Glencoe; sister Sharon Bartusek of Elk River; brother-in-law John Carlson (wife Shirley) of St. Louis Park; nephews Michael Bartusek and Phillip Carlson; and special family Al Fox, Barb and Rebecca Fox, Dave Shepherd and Butch Schirmer, as well as other relatives and many friends.

Memorial services celebrating Samuel’s life were Friday March 17 at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Plato, with the Rev. Bruce Laabs officiating. The organist was Ardell Miller, and the congregational hymns were “Abide With Me” and “I Know That My Redeemer Lives.” The St. John’s choir sang “On Eagles’ Wings;” and a solo, “In The Garden,” was sung by Ane Paumen. Interment will be at a later date in the East Union Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation took place Thursday evening, March 16, at the Johnson-McBride Funeral Chapel in Glencoe.

Serving as honorary bearers were Ryan Fox, Rebecca Fox, Michael Bartusek, and Phillip Carlson.

Arrangements were with the Johnson-McBride Funeral Chapel in Glencoe.
