Carmen Garcia, age 87, of Glencoe, died Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2006 at Glencoe Regional Health Services.
Carmen Rufina was born Aug. 28, 1919 in Ellis County, Kans. to Isabel Alvarez and Juana Rivas.
She was united in marriage to Alfonso Garcia Hernandez and worked for 40 years at her father’s bakery, “La Puricima” (The Purest).
A homemaker, Carmen enjoyed rearing her 11 children, and embroidering.
She was a member of the St. Pius Catholic Church.
Senora Garcia is survived by four sons: Jacob Garcia Alvarez of Tamaulipas, Mexico; Margarito Garcia Alvarez and his wife, Lucia Torres of La Aldea, Guanajuato, Mexico; Alfonso Garcia Alvarez and his wife, Marta Garcia of Romita, Guanajuato, Mexico; and Martin Garcia Alvarez of Tamaulipas, Mexico; four daughters: Lucia Garcia Alvarez of Aldea, Guanajuato, Mexico; Rosario Garcia Alvarez and her husband, Reyes Ayala of Romita, Guanajuato, Mexico; Maria Garcia Alvarez, and Berta Garcia Alvarez, both of Glencoe; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three sons: Guadalupe Garcia Alvarez, Geronimo Garcia Alvarez, and Jose Garcia Alvarez; three sisters: Serapia Alvarez Rivas, Magdalena Alvarez Rivas, and Nicolasa Rodriquez; and brother Manuel Alvarez Rivas.
Visitation was Sunday, Oct. 15 from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Chilson Funeral Chapel in Winsted.
Mass of Christian Burial was Monday, Oct. 16 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Pius Catholic Church in Glencoe with Monsignor Eugene Lozinki, celebrant. Burial is at a later date in San Francisco de Asisis in Silao, Guanajuato, Mexico.
The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted served the family.
