Archie Goemer, age 82, of Darwin, died Thursday, June 15, 2006, at the Meeker County Memorial Hospital in Litchfield.
He was born March 9, 1924, in Greenleaf, Meeker County, to Frank and Bertha (Martens) Goemer.
After three years of military service in World War II, he attended the University of Minnesota and graduated in 1951.
Archie was employed by Honeywell for 35 years, retiring in 1981.
He was a member of the Litchfield VFW Post, Darwin Lion’s Club, and Darwin Rod and Gun Club.
Archie is survived by his wife of almost 57 years, Jeanne Goemer; sons Robert (and Debbie) Goemer, and Steven (and Sue) Goemer; daughter Lynette (and Andrew) Simkins; five grandchildren, Kristofer Goemer, Karl Goemer, Troy Goemer, Sienna Simkins, and Marleyna Simkins; sisters Lucille Nesseth and Barbara Goemer; sisters-in-law June Goemer and Elaine Schwandt; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Elaine Manders and Larayne Howk; and brothers Howard and Milton.
Funeral service was Sunday, June 18 at 1:30 pm at the Litchfield United Methodist Church with the Rev. Robert Kandels officiating. Interment was at the Ellsworth Cemetery, rural Darwin.
Visitation took place Sunday, June 18 for one hour, prior to the service at the church.
Casketbearers were grandchildren Kristofer Goemer, Karl Goemer, Troy Goemer, Sienna Simkins, and Marleyna Simkins; and great nephew Alex Huesman.
The Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel handled the arrangements.
