David C. Gongoll
David C. Gongoll, age 80, of Mayer, died Father’s Day, Sunday, June 18, 2006 at his home in Camden Township.
He was born Nov. 25, 1925 at Lac Qui Parle County, Minn., the son of Fred W. and Olga F. (Berwald) Gongoll. He was baptized July 20, 1926 in the Lutheran church at Milbank, S.D.; and confirmed March 19, 1940 at Zion Lutheran Church in Mayer.
David married Evelyn E. Loehrs June 19, 1947 at St. John’s Lutheran Church parsonage in Young America.
He was very active at Zion Lutheran Church in Mayer, serving as a church elder and as a member of the school board.
He enjoyed farming, hunting ducks, fishing, and being a baseball player. He was a loving husband, dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Olga Gongoll, stepfather George Moore; brothers Harold Gongoll, Earl and sister-in-law Joan Gongoll; and brother-in-law Leonard Hoese.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; children and spouses, Faye and Bill Ernst of Young America, ReNaye and Doug Molnau of Young America, and Fred and Julie Gongoll of Mayer; grandchildren Eric and Teri Ernst, Amy and Larry Corrigan, Kristin Gongoll, Rachel Gongoll, David F. Gongoll, Cody Molnau, and Tara Molnau; and great-grandchildren Adam Ernst, Adriana Ernst, Riley Corrigan, and Christopher Corrigan.
David is further survived by sisters and brother-in-law Frances Hoese of Glencoe, and Lois and Gordon Plocher of Watertown; stepsister Mary Moore of Delano; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law Elmer and Arsylvia Loehrs of Mayer, and Erland Loehrs of Waconia; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services were Wednesday, June 21 at 11 a.m. from Zion Lutheran Church, Mayer, with the Rev. Lucas V. Woodford officiating. Interment was at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Mayer.
Casketbearers were Eric Ernst, David F. Gongoll, Cody Molnau, Adam Ernst, Stephen Hoese, and Brian Gongoll.
Arrangements were with Johnson Funeral Home of Waconia.
