Edith Lorraine Hanson

Edith Lorraine Hanson, age 82, of Dassel, died Friday, Feb. 3, 2006 at the Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.

Edith was born Sept. 16, 1923 in St. Cloud, the daughter of Lloyd and Olive (Stearns) Allen. She graduated from Tech High School and St. Cloud Beauty School.

Edith was united in marriage to Kenneth Frank Hanson Aug. 25, 1945, while on furlough, Ken from the United States Air Force and Edith from the Marine Corps Women’s Reserve.

They moved to Dassel in 1952, where they raised four children.

Kenneth and Edith owned and operated Ken’s Food Market in Dassel for 13 years. Over the years, Edith also worked as a beautician in her home and in area nursing homes.

She enjoyed sports, traveling, camping, and being with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Edith is survived by her husband, Ken, of Dassel; children: Ken Hanson of Clouquet, Kathy (and Virgil) Anderson of Dassel, Sheila (and Larry) Rossell of Atwater, and Scott (and Delores) Hanson of Darwin; nine grandchildren: Jama (and Jon) Hansonbrook, Elizabeth Hanson, Zachery (and Julie) Anderson, Caitlin Anderson, Shara (and Marco) Marquez, Emily (and Ryan) Goodsen, Stacy (and Brittany) Rossell, Mila Hanson, and Cyrus Hanson; and six great-grandchildren: Abel, Micah, Eli, Brittney, Ashtyn, and Brenden.

She is further survived by her sisters, Delores (and George) Palm, Lois Christopherson, and Sharon (and William) Kimball.

Edith was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Robert.

A funeral service took place Tuesday, Feb. 7 at 11 a.m. at the Lamson Evangelical Free Church in Dassel with the Rev. Ralph Erickson officiating. Interment was in the Ripley Cemetery in Litchfield with military honors by Admiral Benson V.F.W. Post 2818.

Visitation was two hours prior to the services Tuesday, at the church.

Arrangements were by the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield.
