Benard (Ben) H. Kaddatz
Benard (Ben) H. Kaddatz, age 93, of Dassel, died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2006 at the Dassel Lakeside Community Home, where he had been a resident for the past two months.
Ben was born Nov. 17, 1912 in Cosmos, the son of Reinhold and Augusta Kaddatz. He received his education in the rural schools of Meeker County.
Ben had worked as a farm hand and as a mechanic.
He loved dancing and music, and enjoyed playing the violin and accordion, especially for dances.
Besides making his home in the Cosmos area, he had lived in Litchfield, Cokato, and for the past 14 years, in Dassel.
Ben was preceded in death by his siblings, Lena Erickson, Mattie Swanger, Dala Block, Elsie Soltow, Edward Kaddatz, Elvina Kuester, and Lenore Kaddatz.
He is survived by a niece, Donna Hanson; nephews Ernie Erickson and Harold Swanger; and other relatives and friends, especially those who looked after and cared for him, as well as the members of the Dassel Senior Center.
Funeral service was Wednesday, Aug. 23 from the Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel, with the Rev. John Peterson officiating. Special music was provided by Sheldon Hedin, “How Great Thou Art,” with Florine Osness as accompanist. Interment was at the Swan Lake Lutheran Cemetery.
Arrangements were by the Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel.
