Doris Maureen Kalvig
Doris Maureen Kalvig, age 67, of Blackduck, died Sunday, April 2, 2006 at Northern Pines Good Samaritan Center in Blackduck.
Funeral Services were Thursday, April 6 at 10:30 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church of Blackduck, with the Rev. John Rickenback officiating. Visitation took place for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Honorary pallbearers were Robin Stomberg, Kenneth Bauer, Scott Magoon, Terry Anderson, Glen Lutgen, and Dale Juelson.
Doris was born Jan. 10, 1939 in Marshalltown, Iowa, the daughter of Louis R. and Elizabeth M. (Otto) Gethmann IV. She was confirmed and baptized in the Methodist faith.
She graduated from Kanawha High School in 1956, and from Iowa School of Nursing in 1959.
Doris married Alvin H. Kalvig Feb. 14, 1959 in Kanawha, Iowa. She and Alvin moved to Blackduck in 1973, and had lived there since.
Doris enjoyed reading, crocheting, baking, and cooking. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Alvin H. Kalvig of Blackduck; two sons, Dwight (Sandy) Kalvig of Blackduck, and Kenneth (Rhonda) Kalvig of Kalispell, Mont.; two daughters, Dawn Kalvig of Howard Lake, and Elizabeth Carol of Virginia; and grandchildren Kate Kalvig and Emilie Kalvig, both of Blackduck, Ashtyn Thompson and April Thompson, both of Virginia, and Allison Kalvig, Olivia Kalvig, and Erik Kalvig, all of Kalispell, Mont.
Doris is further survived by a sister, Carol Rosine of Franklin, Mass.; a nephew, David (Karinna) Egan of New Haven, Conn.; a niece, Kathleen Egan of Boston, Mass.; two aunts, Hazel Snider of Winnipeg, Canada, and Lorraine Otto of Gladbrook, Iowa; and many cousins in Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a godchild, Barbie Reynolds.
Cease Family Funeral Home of Blackduck assisted the family with arrangements.
