Harlan J. Klaustermeier
Harlan J. Klaustermeier, age 67, of New Germany, died Friday, April 14, 2006 at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.
He was born Sept. 12, 1938 in Glencoe, the son of Hugo and Irene (Dietel) Klaustermeier. Harlan was baptized Sept. 18, 1938 at the Glencoe hospital; and confirmed April 5, 1952 at United Church of Christ in Lester Prairie.
Harlan was united in marriage to Sandra L. Mielke May 5, 1962 at St. Mark Lutheran Church, New Germany, by the Rev. Henry Weseloh.
He was a member of the New Germany Fire Department for 34 years; and a money counter, usher, and dart ball player for his church.
He loved to hunt, fish, garden, go to auctions, and vacation at Lost Valley Resort.
Harlan was a loving husband, dad, and grandpa,
He is survived by his loving family: wife Sandy; sons and daughters-in-law John and Georgianna Klaustermeier of New Germany, Joel and Julie Klaustermeier of Norwood Young America, and Jason and Angela Klaustermeier of Big Lake; grandchildren Nicole, Timothy, John, Andrew, Anthony, Samuel, and Martin; sister Lois Schmitz of Lester Prairie; mother-in-law LaVerna Mielke of New Germany; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Duane and Theresa Mielke of New Germany; best companion “Shelby;” nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Harlan was preceded in death by his parents, Hugo and Irene Klaustermeier; brother-in-law Paul Schmitz; and father-in-law Melroy Mielke.
Funeral services were Tuesday, April 18 at 11 a.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church, New Germany, with the Rev. Allen Holthus officiating. Interment was at St. Mark Lutheran Cemetery. The New Germany Fire Department served as honor guard at his funeral service.
Harlan’s grandchildren were his casket bearers.
Arrangements were with Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia.
