Elmer Ernest Kraft
Elmer Ernest Kraft, age 91, of Howard Lake, died Thursday, March 9, 2006 at the Buffalo Hospital.
He was born Sept. 10, 1914 in Victor Township, Wright County, the son of Art and Lena (Gabbert) Kraft.
A life-long member of St. James Lutheran Church, Howard Lake, he was baptized Sept. 28, 1914 by the Rev. A.L. Oetjen; and confirmed in his faith April 1, 1928 by the Rev. C. G. Seltz.
Elmer was united in marriage to Harriet Nelson Aug. 25, 1943 by Dr. John Pearson at the First Lutheran Church, Grove City. One daughter, Beverly, was born to this union.
Elmer farmed the home place southwest of Howard Lake until 1959, at which time the family moved into the city of Howard Lake. He then worked in a furniture factory at Cokato until his retirement.
For a short time, Elmer served as a janitor at St. James Lutheran in Howard Lake, and for nearly five years, he volunteered as a driver for the Howard Lake Care Center.
Elmer was preceded in death by his parents, Art and Lena Kraft; and a sister, Eva Followell.
He is survived by his wife, Harriet; daughter Beverly and her husband, Joe Gritz; granddaughter Jennifer Hauge and her husband, A.J.; three great-grandchildren, Phillip, Stephanie, and Kaylee Hauge; nieces; nephews; and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services were Monday, March 20 at 2 p.m. at St. James Lutheran Church in Howard Lake with the Revs. Michael Nirva and Martin Schoenfeld officiating. Nancy Butterfass served as the organist. Interment will be on a later date at the Howard Lake Cemetery.
