Helen “Lorraine” Lee
Helen “Lorraine” Kvam Lee, age 90 of Cokato, died Friday, Feb. 24 in Cokato.
She was born Feb. 1, 1916 in Cokato, the daughter of Haakon and Eva Marie Kvam. Lorraine was baptized and confirmed at the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Cokato, and was a lifelong member of its congregation.
Lorraine was a 1934 graduate of Cokato High School, and a graduate of the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis.
She taught in the rural Maple Grove school, northeast of Cokato, and the public schools of Tyler, Glenwood, Austin, Cokato, and Dassel.
Lorraine married Carlton R. Lee of Cokato Aug. 16, 1957.
She was active in the women’s organizations of her church, and taught Sunday school for several years. She also served as a volunteer in various community activities.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, Carlton; brother Conrard Kvam; and sister Achsa Kvam.
She is survived by stepchildren James (Ruth) Lee, and Mary (Ted) Pestel; their children and grandchildren; sister-in-law Barbara Kvam; and six nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Feb. 28 at 11 a.m. at Evangelical Lutheran Church of Cokato with the Rev. Steve Thorson officiating. Music was provided by Karen Anderson. Interment followed at the Lutheran church cemetery.
Visitation took place one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.
Arrangements were by the Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home in Cokato.
