Martha (Marty) Lepisto Makepeace
Martha (Marty) Lepisto Makepeace, age 84, of Minnetonka, died Tuesday, March 14, 2006.
She was born in Cokato Dec. 16, 1921 to Matti Benjamin Lepisto and Hilja Cristina Kursu.
Marty was a 1944 graduate of the University of Minnesota, with a bachelor of science degree in nursing education. She was a member of Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society; and taught nursing at Kansas City General Hospital, Northwestern Hospital, and Hennepin County General Hospital.
She was formerly a volunteer in political, church, and social groups.
Marty was preceded in death by her husband, Ray LeClaire, on Dec. 20, 2005.
She is survived by daughter Mary (Jim) Gilbert of Orono; sons Ray Jr. (Roxanne) of Minnetonka, John (Anne) of New Ulm, and Robert (Elisabeth) of Munich, Germany; grandchildren Alison Gilbert, Erica (A. J.) Austerman, Kristina Gilbert, and Jaime, Jeffrey, Andrew, Tessa, Johannes, Katherine, and Marie Louise Makepeace; brother Arnold (Mary) Lepisto; sister-in-law Bernice Makepeace; and 20 nieces and nephews.
Memorial service was Friday, March 17 at 11 a.m. at the Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in Minnetonka.
Arrangements were by the Washburn-McReavy Strobeck Johnson Funeral Home in Minneapolis.
