Ewan D. “Mac” or “Jake” McDonald
Ewan D. “Mac” or “Jake” McDonald, age 83, of Hopkins, formerly of Watertown, died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2006 at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Minneapolis.
He was born Oct. 7, 1923 to Kenneth and Margaret (Burns) McDonald in Woodland Township.
Ewan was an avid golfer, carding two holes-in-one over the years. He was a golden gloves boxer, as well as playing town team baseball for Watertown.
Ewan was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Margaret McDonald; brothers, Ed, Joe, and Patsy McDonald; and nephews, Kenneth Borer, and Brian Ewan McDonald.
He is survived by his children, son Mike and Maureen McDonald; daughters Sharon Erickson and fiancé Paul Holden, Mary and Paul Bowerman, and Maureen and Al Blaney; and nine grandchildren: Kelly, Keighty, and Shannon McDonald, Kris and Amy Erickson, Rachel and Hannah Bowerman, and Emily and Claire Blaney.
Ewan is further survived by brothers Kenneth “KJ” McDonald, and Philip “Flip” McDonald; sisters Margaret, Rita, Dorothy, Kathleen, Brigid, and Jane; brothers-in-law Earl Borer and ElRoy Vidlund; and sisters-in-law Barbara and Abbie McDonald; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial took place Saturday, Jan. 6 at 11 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown, with visitation from 9 to 11 a.m. at the church, prior to the Mass. Interment was in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Waverly.
Arrangements were by the Iten Funeral Home in Delano.
