Joseph Francis O’Connell
Joseph Francis O’Connell, age 74 of International Falls, formerly of Waverly, died Sunday, April 9, 2006 in Apache Junction, Ariz.
He was born March 27, 1932 to Frank P. and Mary E. (Foley) O’Connell, one of five children.
Joe and his brother, Ed, bought a farm south of Waverly in 1960, which they farmed in partnership until they retired in 1994.
Joe was united in marriage to Trudy Jeannine Gibson Aug. 18, 1973. Over the years, Joe and Trudy were privileged to adopt three daughters.
Joe and Trudy were full-time RVers since 2001, spending summers at Breezy Point, and winters at Apache Junction, Ariz. Joe was happiest when driving down the highway in his Ford, pulling his HitchHiker trailer. He will be sorely missed by family and friends.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Dan; and a sister, Alice.
He is survived by his wife, Trudy; daughters Kathleen (Timothy) Eisel of Superior, Wis., Sara (Kevin) Flynn of Duluth, and Anita (Leo) Dugas of International Falls; a sister, Ann McNamara of Goodhue; a brother, Edward (Judy) O’Connell of Chandler, Ariz; nieces; nephews; three grandchildren; and eight honorary grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial was Friday, April 21 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Chuch in Waverly with the Rev. Timothy Cloutier officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Visitation took place at the church Thursday, April 20 from 4 to 8 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., and continued Friday from 9 to 10 a.m., prior to the Mass.
Arrangements were by Apache Junction Mortuary in Apache Junction, Ariz., and the Iten Funeral Home in Delano.
