Leslie Eugene “Les” Olson
Leslie Eugene “Les” Olson, age 83, of Montrose, died Monday, Aug. 21, 2006 at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale.
He ws born April 6, 1923 in Tracy, the son of Ludwig and Agnes Swan Olson.
Les honorably served his country in the US Armed Services.
He was joined in marriage to Mary A. McQuarie Jan. 12, 1952 at the United Methodist Church in Elmore. God blessed their marriage with five children.
A longtime chef, les also delivered the Star Tribune newspaper to area businesses. he formerly worked at the Depot in Howard Lake.
A lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion, through the years, Les was especally active in Wright County V.F.W. Post 1901.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary A. Olson; children, Doug Olson of Shakopee, Laine (Cherlyn) Olson of Maple Lake, Draye (Brenda) Olson of Bloomington, Laranne (Greg) Erickson of Eden Prairie, and Dawn (Bruce) Scheie of Montrose; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandsons; and other relatives and friends.
Les was preceded in death by his parents, Ludwig and Agnes Olson; two brothers; and a sister.
Funeral service was Thursday, Aug. 24 at Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo, with the Rev. Steve Svoboda officiating. Interment with military rites took place at Kreidler Cemetery in rural Montrose.
