Bernice M. Quaas, 77

Bernice M. Quaas, age 75, of Lester Prairie, and formerly of Watertown, died Tuesday Nov. 21, 2006 at the Elim Home in Watertown.

She was born Dec. 22, 1930 in Waconia Twp., Carver County, the daughter Carl and Mathilda (Gennrich) Prehn. Bernice was baptized Jan, 11, 1931 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waconia by the Rev. Bernice graduated from Watertown High School.

She was united in marriage to Otto A. Quaas April 23, 1949. After their marriage, the couple moved to Watertown and became members of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Bernice was employed as a nurse’s aid for 21 years at Watertown Hospital until it closed. Later, she worked at Carlson Company and Young America Corp. Bernice retired in August of 2005 and moved to Lester Prairie to be closer to her family.

Bernice was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Family was extremely important to her. She attended all extracurricular activities for her children, Barb and Gary, and felt that she gained another daughter when Mandy married Gary.

Bernice’s pride and joy were her grandchildren, Jenny and Jeremy. Her great-grandson, Joshua, referred to Bernice as “Big Gamma,” and nobody could rock him to sleep as she did.

Most importantly, Bernice had great faith in Jesus Christ; and the church was her solid rock. Her beliefs influenced her approach to daily life and to the way she lived the final days of her life. She was unafraid and ready for the next step to eternity.
