Olga Marie Regal
Olga Marie Regal, age 84 of Dassel, died Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2006 at her home.
She was born Oct. 7, 1921 in Collinwood Township, south of Lake Jennie, the daughter of Anton and Marie (Boeder) Servin. Olga was baptized and confirmed at the Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson.
Olga attended District 49 school and later graduated from Dassel High School. After graduation, she attended teacher’s training in Hutchinson, and taught country school at District 24 in Ellsworth Township for two years.
Olga was united in marriage to Robert Regal June 9, 1943 at Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson. Together, they farmed east of Pigeon Lake in Collinwood Twp.
Olga was a devoted wife and mother. She and Bob enjoyed entertaining friends, neighbors, and family at the Regal-View Farm, where they lived for 60 years. The farm was also a gathering place for hunters for many years. Olga spent many hours deer hunting with her daughter.
She enjoyed cross country skiing, bowling, golfing, partridge hunting with Bob at Big Falls, and fishing trips to Canada, northern Minnesota, and Michigan. She also enjoyed time spent with her neighbors and friends over the years.
Olga was a 4-H leader, and Sunday school teacher and treasurer. She belonged to Women of the Evangelical Church in America, and was a member of the Stitch and Chatter Club. She also enjoyed church Bible studies, and traveling with Bob in Europe, Hawaii, Canada, and most of the US.
Olga is survived by her daughter, Lana, of Braham; sons Gary of Hutchinson, amd Gene (and Margie) of Dassel; grandchildren Aric (and friend, Sheri), and Gina (and Scott) Gage; great-grandchildren Tenley, Abby, and Kylie; a brother, Ronnie (and Carol) Servin; sister-in-law Jeanette (Paul) Servin of Darwin; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; son Jim in 1965; parents; and brothers Edward and Paul.
A memorial service took place Saturday, Feb. 18 at 3 p.m. at the Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Dassel with the Rev. Steven Olson officiating. Congregational hymns were “Thine Is The Glory,” and “I’ll Fly Away.” Marie Meyer sang “The Lord’s Prayer;” and Lana Regal and Marie Meyer sang “Softly and Tenderly.” Inurnment was at the Dassel Cemetery.
A time to gather with family took place Friday, Feb. 17 from 5 to 8 p.m., and continued one hour prior to the service Saturday at the Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Dassel.
The Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel handled the arrangements.
