Claire Warren Regal obituary, 9/28/06


Claire Warren Regal, age 83, of Cokato, died Thursday, Sept. 28, 2006, at his home in Cokato.
He was born June 28, 1923 in Lake Jennie Township, Meeker County, the son of William and Clara (Nordstrom) Regal. Claire was baptized at home and confirmed at the Lake Jennie Covenant Church
Claire grew up in the Lake Jennie area, where he attended school, and graduated from the Dassel High School in 1941.
Claire was united in marriage to Deloris Anderson Nov. 22, 1947, at the First Lutheran Church (Gethsemane) in Dassel. Together, they made their home in Dassel from 1947 until 1968.
During this time, Claire worked for the Haapala Seed Company. In 1968, they moved to Belmond, Iowa, where Claire worked for the ACCO Seed Company as production manager. In 1982, they moved to Cokato, where they have since made their home.
After moving to Cokato, Claire worked for Cargill Seeds in Minnetonka as a plant production manager. He oversaw 13 plants in different states, spending many hours traveling between them.
Claire was a member of the Gethsemane Lutheran Church, where he had been a member of the church council, and volunteered as an usher.
Claire loved to play baseball and had been a member of the Dassel Baseball Team, where he had been the assistant manager.
He was a member of the Dassel Volunteer Fire Department from 1949 until 1968. In 1962, he was elected lieutenant, and served as the fire department chief from 1966 until 1968.
He had also served on the Dassel School Board for many years.
Claire enjoyed spending time planting and taking care of the flowers in his garden, and took great pride in seeing his garden grow. He loved a perfect lawn, no weeds were allowed in his lawn or garden.
But most of all, Claire took great pride in his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He spent many hours traveling to his grandchildren’s sporting events.
He will deeply be missed by his family and his friends.
Claire is survived by his wife, Deloris Regal of Cokato; his children, Ron (Nancy) Regal of Las Vegas, Nev., Carol McLaughlin of Salt Lake City, Utah, Sue (Ron) Fuller of Watseka, Ill., and Joel Regal of Las Vegas, Nev.; five grandchildren, Molly McLaughlin, Josh (Lisa) Fuller, Matt (Susan) Fuller, Sara (Tyler) Davis, and Brittney Regal; and four great-grandchildren, Gabe, Tyler, Emily, and Dylan.
He is also survived by his brother, Ralph (Nancy) Regal of Bradenton, Fla.
In addition to his parents, Claire was preceded in death by brothers Reynold and Robert.
The funeral service took place Wednesday, Oct. 4 at 11 a.m. at the Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Dassel. The Revs. Steven Olson and John Peterson officiated at the service. Music for the service was a duet, “Rock of Ages” by Lana Regal and Marie Meyer; and hymns, “What A Friend We Have In Jesus,” “Amazing Grace,” “My Faith Looks Up to Thee,” and “How Great Thou Art.” Organist was Florine Osness. Interment was at the Dassel Cemetery.
Casket bearers were Tex Hapala, Mike Jaskowiack, Lloyd Johnson, Earl Nordstrom, Dean Nordstrom, and Roland Kinseth.
Visitation took place Tuesday, Oct. 3 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Dassel, and continued Wednesday for one hour visitation prior to the service.
Arrangements were by the Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel.
