Gayle Evelyn Renner
Gayle Evelyn Renner, age 89, of Hutchinson, formerly, of Darwin and Kingston, died Sunday, Sept. 24, 2006, at the Hutchinson Area Medical Center.
Gayle was born Nov. 12, 1916 in Donnybrook, N.D., the daughter of Ray and Bessie (Tarr) Bryant. She was baptized in the Methodist faith.
She attended school and grew up in the Donnybrook area.
Gayle was united in marriage to Cornelius Renner Jan. 29, 1940, in Plentywood, Mont. Together, they made their home in the Bowbells, N.D. area until 1951, when they moved to a farm in the Darwin area.
In 1966, Gayle and Cornelius moved to a farm near Kingston, where they resided until 2003, when they moved to Hutchinson.
Gayle loved to spend time out in her garden, and could often be found canning those vegetable in the fall. Gayle and Cornelius once canned 90 quarts of dill pickles.
She enjoyed baking, especially cinnamon rolls, breads, cookies, and chocolate cake; and avidly enjoyed time quilting, putting together jigsaw puzzles, and doing word puzzles.
Often, Gayle and Cornelius would travel to North Dakota to visit with family and friends. After retirement they enjoyed some travel to other parts of the US.
Gayle is survived by her children, Frank (Nancy) Renner of Dassel, Jesse (Rita) Renner of Kimball, Myrna Hayden of Tulsa, Okla., Charles (Leeann) Renner of Darwin, and Shirley Nelson of Tulsa, Okla.; 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.
She is further survived by a brother, Ray (Annamae) Bryant of Hutchinson; a sister, Joy Jenkins of Portland, Ore.; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
Gayle was preceded in death by her husband, Cornelius; a grandson, Chad Renner; two great-grandsons, Ben McDonald and Jeremiah Abbeduto; her parents; son in law James Hayden; three brothers, Foster, Merlin Bryant, and Melton Bryant; and three sisters, Beryl Jungberg, Dorothy Eckert, and Esther Homiston.
The funeral service was Wednesday, Sept. 27 at 1 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel in Dassel, with the Rev. Jack Torgersen officiating. Interment was at the Dassel Cemetery.
Casket bearers were Anthony Renner, Bradley Renner, Dallas Winn, Jillann Renner, Melissa Abbeduto, and Loren Schmidt.
Visitation took place Tuesday evening, Sept. 26 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel; and continued for one hour prior to the service Wednesday.
Arrangements were by the Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel.
