Larry John Rotzien
Larry John Rotzien, age 57, of Dassel, formerly of Hutchinson, died Friday, Sept. 1, 2006, at his home in Dassel Township.
He was born Feb. 18, 1949, in Hutchinson, the son of Edward and Gertrude (Pawlicki) Rotzien. Larry was baptized as an infant, and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth, both at St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson. He received his elementary education at St. Anastasia Parochial School, and was a graduate of the Hutchinson High School Class of 1967.
Larry was united in marriage to Darlene Louise Wosmek Aug. 23, 1969, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Silver Lake. Their marriage was blessed with five children.
Larry and Darlene resided and farmed on the Rotzien family farm until August, 1999, when they moved to their home on Lake Washington, near Dassel. They shared 37 years of marriage.
In addition to farming, Larry held employment as a delivery driver for Schmeling Oil Company in Hutchinson, and did combining for the Green Giant Company in Glencoe. Most recently, Larry hauled grain for the Peterson Service Center in Cedar Mills.
Larry was a member of St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson.
He enjoyed fishing and bowling, loved animals, and enjoyed the companionship of his cats and dogs.
He especially enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Larry is survived by his wife, Darlene Rotzien, of Dassel; children, Jim Rotzien and his wife, Bernett, of Hutchinson, Jennifer Cuhel and her husband, Terry, of Glencoe, Kari Hansen and her husband, Henry, of Cologne, Lisa Diederich and her husband, Todd, of Cokato, and Paul Rotzien of Dassel; grandchildren Mitchell Rotzien, Cody Rotzien, Ashley Cuhel, Tyler Cuhel, Brandon Diederich, Amanda Diederich, Zachary Diederich, and Kaitlyn Diederich; brothers, Leonard Rotzien and his wife, Rosie, of Alexandria, and Joseph Rotzien and his wife, Jeri, of Olivia; sister Jane Swanson and her husband, John ,of Aitken; nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Gertrude Rotzien; and grandparents Louis and Jane Rotzien and Nick and Louise Pawlicki.
A Mass of Christian Burial took place Wednesday, Sept. 6 at 11 a.m. at St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson, with Father Bill Sprigler officiating. Organist was Bev Wangerin, and song leader was Bobbi Ludewig. Musical selections included “On Eagle’s Wings,” “Amazing Grace,” “Ave Maria,” “Be Not Afraid,” “I Am The Bread Of Life,” “How Great Thou Art,” and “Song Of Farewell.” Interment was in St. Anastasia Catholic Cemetery in Hutchinson.
Casket bearers were Chad Wosmek, Jody Rotzien, Kim Lowe, Justin Schlechter, Kevin Swanson, and Jay Hausladen.
