Howard E. Shogren obituary, 8/30/06


Howard E. Shogren, age 81, of Albertville, formerly of Robbinsdale, died Aug. 30, 2006 at Sunrise Cottages of Buffalo.
He was born Aug. 6, 1925 in Minneapolis, the son of Edwin and Minnie Lian Shogren.
Howard served in the U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Marine during World War II.
He was united in marriage to Elaine M. Heuring Sept. 11, 1948 in Minneapolis.
Howard was employed by Bill Boyer Ford for 33 years.
He enjoyed golfing, dancing, wood carving, and being with his family and friends.
Howard is survived by his wife of 58 years, Elaine; children Stephen (Colleen) Shogren of Eagan, Janice (David) Swanson of Andover, and Geralyn (Peter) Lucht of Delano; grandchildren Lonnie (Jesse) Kirkendall, Scott Swanson, Linnea Swanson, Trent Lucht, and Joe Lucht; great-grandchildren Jericka and Zander Kirkendall; and sister Irene Finsveen of Minneapolis.
He was preceded in death by a son, Daniel Shogren; his parents; a sister, Mildred Martin; and an aunt, Aileen Prose.
Mass of Christian Burial took place Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2006 at 3 p.m. at St. Albert Catholic Church in Albertville. Father Peter Richards was the celebrant of the Mass. Mary Lou Kolles was the organist, and Wayne Kolles was the soloist.
Visitation took place one hour prior to the mass at the church.
Casket bearers were Lonnie Kirkendall, Scott Swanson, Linnea Swanson, Trent Lucht, Joe Lucht, and Jesse Kirkendall.
Peterson Chapel of St. Michael served the family.
